Water is the enemy!

I love water! I love the sound of it, I love drinking it, I love swimming in it..... But I need to remember that I am a fire sign...and therefore, water is my enemy!!

In the last 24 hours, I have had two bad water experiences. :)

Experience #1
Last night I took a shower. Instead of running around the house naked (which I totally do all the time so don't ever just walk in, mm-kay?!) I thru on a long shirt because my brother-in-law was over playing the Wii all night with my husband. I wanted to get a drink of water before I went to bed, so I headed for the kitchen. I made it maybe 2 feet from my bathroom when I suddenly did the splits next to my couch. haha Yea...apparently I tracked water with me...and water + hardwood floors= slip n slide. My left leg bent backwards, though and I wrenched my knee, wacked the inside of my left foot pretty hard AND wacked my right knee on the wall. OMG...I'm so bruised and the left knee hates me every time I have to climb the 3 flights of stairs to my condo. :)

Experience #2

We had a HORRIBLE storm last night. I mean torrential downpour, constant lightning, do not drive in this or you will die kinda weather! It was still raining this morning and I had to open the school I work at, so I left early because sometimes it floods around here in weather like that (we live next to a river). I get to the school, open the door and it was dark but looked like there was some water on the floor. My first thought was that the toilet over flowed because we have a problem toilet that will run and run and I have come in to find a flooded bathroom before. lol So I flipped on the lights....and there was a yellow lake in half the school....and mushy ceiling tiles on the floor. Roof leak!!! 3 rooms had pools of a good inch of water and more was coming in. Aghhh! So, I spent an hour with students moping the floors up and taking down tiles that were about to fall, moving around furniture, doing laundry, etc. What a mess! But...I got the rest of the day off. :)

Maybe you've never been informed how this works....

Today, I went to a wedding shower for a former co-worker of mine. Other than the fact that I couldn't eat anything because of my current self imposed diet restrictions, it was a good time. That is, up until the later part of the event.

A man...in horribly see thru white pants... was walking around with a giant cardboard box handing out what appeared to be shower favors to the guests. I didn't really pay much attention to him until I realized that he was suddenly standing next to our table with the Mother of the Groom. I looked up and saw that she was helping pass the favors out...and EVERYONE had one....except me and the two other girls (also former co-workers) at my table. "See thru pants" and "MOG", while standing DIRECTLY in front of our table are going over the fact that they have each covered all of the tables...and so they are done. They walked off...like we didn't even exist!

Now, granted....the favor was a crappy little silver candle holder whose base spelled the word "LOVE"....and I really don't need another crappy little knick knack in my house when I really should be getting rid of crap I already own. But the three of us at the table were really kind of insulted. We each spent a huge chunk of cash on a wedding gift only to be insulted by these two schmucks! See...that's how it works people. I give the Bride and Groom an expensive gift, and then the host of the shower is supposed to give me back some crappy Dollar Store item in return. Where is my Dollar Store candle holder? It's still sitting in the card board box of an incredibly poor dresser.

The Incredible Shrinking Woman

Why is it that eating healthy costs so much more than eating un-healthy? Why is it that an apple costs me $3 but I can get an entire meal off of someone's value meal for that...INCLUDING a drink?!!

I gave up on "dieting" a lot time ago....tried to just eat healthy, which is nearly impossible in Chicago! Why on earth did I choose to move to one of the fattest cities in the nation while trying to get my weight in order? Booo....hiissssss!

Well, I jumped on the HCG bandwagon a while back. If you don't know what that is...look it up....it will do your brain some good to go on a google quest. What I will say is it involves taking a hormone women produce while pregnant....and unlike "diets", there is a plan to help you keep it all off easily.

How do you take the hormone? Two options...under the tongue or....injections! I did the former already and now I have moved on to the latter. I never thought I would be talking myself into shoving a needling into my stomach....EVER. But, once I got past the mental part of it...what a breeze. Seriously...you don't want to mess with me....I stick myself with needles, which pretty much means I'm a total bad ass. Okay....so you can't even feel it. But give me credit for being able to do this...I can't even look when I'm being stuck by someone else for a blood test.

So, here I am...shrinking down before everyone's eyes. What a great excuse for shopping! I might have to take another job (putting me up to....FOUR) just so that I can have the extra money....maybe it will have to be one of my fav clothing stores just so I can work the system for the discounts.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Hmmmm....Eclipse is finally here, Twilight-a-holics. I really can't wait to see it, but I'm willing to wait a few days to avoid the screaming mob of 13 year old's that I know were at the midnight showing. lol Sunday morning....when all you little pukes are still sleeping in your warm, cuddly, parental paid for and provided beds (or possibly stuck in a pew during morning worship) I will be in my comfy stadium seated theater viewing the latest installment of the Twilight saga....even if it IS getting crappy reviews.

I can't believe it's been that long!

Argh....I just realized how long it's been since I've written anything on here. Boo to me! Have I really let like 10 months go by without something hysterical to write about? Um, no I think not....I just didn't think to sit my butt down and share. What's wrong with me?

So what's been going on in life these past 10 months? I went back to school...sorta. I traded student teaching for hours and earned my time needed to get my Instructors license for Cosmetology, which I put to full use 4 days a week now. :) And lemme tell you, my days are full of laughs there. From "Are you really asking me that?" questions to "did that just happen?" moments....I really enjoy my students and life at the school.

There's nothing like walking in having a so-so day and being greeted by my fellow instructor....the in your face, shooting pretend free throws, constant pen clicking, "stick out your finger so I can cut it off" guy. LOL He's a wild and crazy one for sure...but he is a wealth of information for the students who can deal with his antics. lol

The school director is the nicest guy you'll ever meet....and the first one to lay the hammer down when you step outta line. I think he's great....some students don't feel the same. Can you guess who the trouble makers are? lol

My students are all so unique. It's great to see them open up and gain confidence as they move thru the program and realize how much they really know. I'm still trying to figure out how to be nice and offer my help and knowledge to that rare bird that comes thru who just gets under my skin. But for the most part....they are all amazing little sponges who I enjoy working with.

What else has been going on? Had 2 Fall weddings....Rick's sister and my friend Amber. Did hair for both and they were both beautiful and unique ceremonies.
My husband and I just celebrated one whole year together married without wanting to kill each other. lol I guess that's a good sign. And now we are getting hounded all the time about when we're having a baby. I'll have a baby when I'm damn well ready...or when my ovaries decide to. :) Why is everyone else in such a rush for me to pop out a baby? lol My sister-in-law called Rick the other day to announce that her and her hubby are now prego with numero uno. Right after delivering the news, she asks "So, are you guys trying, or what?" Come on girl....revel in your own joy for a moment. It's not that I don't want a baby. I've always wanted 1 or 2....but I have to admit that the older I get, the more I really think about everything that will be given up when a baby comes. You don't think about that stuff when you're 23 and wanna be a mommy. lol But we have Rick's 2 year old nephew over all the time....and I think it makes Rick's biological clock tick even faster. lol Like I said, it will happen when it happens.

We went to Montana for Christmas and New Years. It was a nice get away. New Years was spent playing beer pong (my first time at 31!!) and hanging out watching the guys hicky bobbing. lol Good times.

Not too much else. Just busy, busy, busy. Have some big things coming up, including our vacation to both Southern and Northern California in less than 2 months. Looking forward to what's to come, and to getting back on here more regularly!
